I Was Here
I can hear the footsteps of the past walk next to me.
I can hear the cries of peace in my ears, I can see
the tears of freedom drop onto my story. As I feel the
fury of change and the thought of recognition awaken
in my soul. As I whisper I was here.
I want the world to know I was here, I was everything
I could be. I was here to see the fight come to an
end. I was here to see all the tears of warriors drop onto
this soil and grow into nothing but change that will
never wither away. I’ll be able to say I was here.
I can feel the door slammed in my face as I tried to
pace my next move so I don’t get too ahead of myself.
So that I am able to let some pounding souls rest, so that
some cracked hearts get reason for this reality. Where
I realize that...
The only thing I will be saying is…
I was here, I fought, I cried. I lived with everything when
life threw anything at me, but I will have the right to
say I was here. I was here to witness the change, the
fight, the war everyone thought I would lose. I'll proudly
stand up and shout from my lungs that...
